2023 ISA State Climbing Competition
Project type
Tree Climbing Competition
Date
June, 2023
Location
Margaret Wines Park, Lehi
Every year, the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) hosts a statewide competition designed to test the technical skills, safety protocols, and physical endurance of the region's top arborists. In 2023, I was selected to represent my company and compete against the best municipal and private climbers in the state.
The competition consists of five scored events that mimic real-world challenges faced in our industry, from aerial rescues to complex work climbs. While I finished in the middle of the pack overall, I’m proud to say that I took 1st place in the "Belayed Speed Climb" event.
Why this matters for your trees:
Safety First: ISA competitions are strictly judged on safety. To win an event, you have to be precise and secure, not just fast.
Efficiency: Faster, more fluid movement in the tree means I can complete your project safely and effectively.
Technical Mastery: I use the same competition-grade equipment and advanced rope techniques on your property that I use in high-stakes environments.
